No More Dermoid!

*Bloody Skin to follow*

dermoid cyst
A dermoid cyst is a teratoma of a cystic nature that contains an array of developmentally mature, solid tissues. It frequently consists of skin, hair follicles, and sweat glands.

If you remember, Roger had a little dermoid on the back of his head behind his ear. They're almost always benign, but if he ever fell on it (as toddlers are wont to do) it could rupture and create a lot of painful scar tissue.

Last May, he got it removed a friendly oculo-plastic surgeon who has experience working delicately on people's heads. She sent us some pictures.

The closed incision. Note Dr. Moreau's beautiful suture work.

The thing!

Roger's head has healed beautifully: the scar is barely noticeable. (It's that shiny line)
