Valentine Cards

I saw a cute idea for a pirate Valentine, so I made my own! I let the boys pick their own facial hair.

Edward's has brown eyes:

Frederick's has blue eyes.
I slapped 9 of these on a page, printed, and then cut them out. They signed their names and taped some candy on the back. The idea valentine had a candy heart over one eye like an eye patch, but my pirates were smaller in the face, so gluing on a candy heart made them look like the candy eye patch was a gluing error.

They turned out super cute and they were as close to handmade as I was willing to go this year.

Mom's "Treasure" of a Dress

Mom has multiple callings, and she magnifies each calling with flare.  One of her callings is Cub Scout commissioner for a few other wards.  She attends their pack meetings each month.  This month one pack meeting had the theme: From Trash to Treasure.  The boys made robots from recycled stuff. Mom wanted to dress for the occasion, so she used shopping bags to jazz up her little black dress and came up with this lovely gown, plus a fancy hat to "top it off".

Isn't she amazing?  Everyone was very impressed with her creativity.  (And her bravery for wearing it in public.)

Little Ann

Mom showed me her Treasures of Truth book she made as a YW and it has picture I'd never seen before.  I thought I would share them with you.  I'll get better scanned copies soon.  Wasn't mom cute?  I think she looks a lot like Jan, who is also quite cute.

St George Trip

Mom, Dad, Ella, Isaac, and I drove down to St. George last weekend to see Rachel's show.  Rachel's in a show.  It's a Valentine Musical Revue, and she sings, dances, and makes everyone laugh with a four other people. It was lots of fun and I have photographic evidence.

Some highlights:  Sunset at Flying J somewhere in Utah

Mom made an unfortunate mistake in dental care.  Rachel used it as fodder for her comedy act.

Fan pic. Trying to copy Rachel's facial talent.  Try it, it's hard!  And send Rachel a picture.

This big poster was hanging up at the show.

Dad's Dental Chairs Project

Dear Family,

Last fall I volunteered to do some engineering and build a prototype of a powered dental chair for Oral Surgeons who do humanitarian work in Central America. I modified one heavy duty lounge chair that was purchased from China, and it worked. So the chairman of the foundation ordered seven more in and we modified them. The project is complete and the chairs are en route to some Central American country for the April visit. About 140 people go down there to work with prospective missionaries. They provide medical, dental, barber, hygiene and other needed services for these young people.

You can see the before ( on the carpet) and the after (in the shop) and the completed 8. There are linear actuators on the two moving axes. Also the armrest had to be installed and everything 'beefed up'.
