South Carolina Fun

In January we had the wonderful opportunity to go to South Carolina to visit Mark, Cadence, Zephyr and Beauregard.  Grandma and Grandpa were there, too, and we had such a fun weekend together.  Here are some highlights...

Mark and Cadence live in the cutest neighborhood...it's had to believe it's "base housing."  There's a park nearby we can see from their dining room.
We loved the warm, tropical temperatures of 58-65 degrees in these winter months.
Sunday night we went to the Charleston Waterfront where they have 2 lovely fountains, a pier with porch swings and views of Fort Sumpter in the distance.

Monday Grandpa, Jason, Weston and Sterling went to the waterfront again, this time to tour an aircraft carrier and submarine.

We highly recommend visiting them and look forward to going in warmer weather.

Baby Brown Gets a Name!

You heard it here first, folks!
The monogram will be a little long, but we think it suits his slit-like eyes and veinous head.
(Weston chose his name for family home evening.)

My Dating Pool

So, many of you have heard of Tinder. Well, maybe you haven't because it's a dating app and none of you are really in that circle anymore. For those of you just tuning in to what a pathetic single person with no hope for the future does...it's called Tinder.

Brief explanation
Tinder is like speed dating mixed with "hot or not". Basically...Single Loser A creates a profile with a few pictures and a little blurb about them. Then Single Loser B can look at the pictures, read the blurb, and decide if they'd be interested in getting to know Single Loser A.

If they choose the heart, or swipe right, that means yes. The X means no. If both Single Losers choose yes on each other, they get matched up and can start chatting. And love ensues. Simple as that.

End of brief explanation

So one week, I was that single loser and thought I would see what Tinder was all about. Well it was like taking a step into a freak show. So awful...but I couldn't stop looking. Here are some gems I found, right here in St. George.

Meet Bug Eyes, the Mirror Selfie Wife Beater, a Photoshopped Dolphin Cowboy, and the long lost member of Megadeth. Who apparently goes by "Speedyhonda".

Here we have a weirdo dressed like a child's cartoon, an idiot in a fuzzle purple fedora and a cheap dollar sign necklace, Sweet Travis with the patchy beard, long bangs, and transition lenses, and last but not least, a Mickey Mouse foot tattoo.... really??!? The caption on that one said, "I may also have a big obsession with disney so let's have a Disney night!"

No thanks.

Okay this group is super gross and weird too...but here's the kicker. I've been on a date with one of these fools. And I'm not going to tell you which one. But I will say that it was a blind date set up by his dad, who I met at the mechanics then received a letter from a few months later at my school, where he remembered that I worked, with his son's phone number in it. It was too bizarre to not go on the date. Because, as mom says, at the very least, it could be a funny story.

Indeed, Mother.

Or, at the very least, he could be a fatty with his tank top on backwards, a lumberjack serial killer, a cheese ball with a gun, or puckering tool wearing jewelry.

So, in conclusion, Kids--just marry the first one that comes along. It only gets worse.

Snake Cake

Frederick asked for a snake cake this year! He said it should be green and black. I said I had red and white frosting. So he said it should be red and white! What a good 5 year old!

It had chocolate chip eyes. We blew out the candles and ate the head and tail first.
