More from Brown Studios

We're on a roll here...actually Jason and the girls had BYC and BYD last night and we were bored.   We remembered the days of making videos after church with the Ciervo girls and are now reading this part of the Book of Mormon as a family.  This is what we came up with.  We're certainly not LDS studios and no one is going to put this on the church website, but we had fun.  Weston burned his thumb so he has a ice pack and dishcloth in his right hand.  Good thing he's left-handed.

If I Had a Blog...

I have thought about starting a blog of my own.  In my fantasy world, people I don't even know would find my blog, come to love it, and subscribe so they wouldn't miss a single post (and advertisers would pay to be a part of it too).  Then I realized that most of my posts would probably be the things I like on other people's blogs--and isn't that basically pinterest?  Besides, lots of sporadic posts is not on the pros tips on making a great blog.  Plus, I wouldn't know what to name it.

Therefore, I will just post my thoughts here!

You may already know this about me, but I am not the most eager chef.  I'm not particularly good at cooking or baking (some may recall the salt tsp. to Tbsp. mess-up of 1990?), but I actually do enjoy trying new recipes (if I have all the ingredients and it turns out okay, even if I don't have all the ingredients).  My dream is to someday make all (or most) of the recipes I have in my somewhat medium-sized collection.  So, baking a new recipe, especially one that I adapted for my needs, is blog worthy.

Note: you might think the following is either very clever and frugal or very disgusting.  Or maybe both!

I was tired of throwing away parts of sandwiches after lunches went uneaten.  I periodically saved them and re-served them, but they were not the most popular (unless we were out and about and that was the only food to eat as a snack).  So, I decided to try to make something out of them--after all, croutons are made out of stale bread.  I saved up a container full of pb&j parts as well as some plain bread odds and ends.  Then I used them in this Martha Stewart chocolate bread pudding recipe.

It looked really good, but the only one who liked it was Liberty.  True said it tasted like pb&j with a light chocolate flavor.  (I never tasted it because my New Year's resolution excludes refined sweets, dairy, and white flour for a while.)  I couldn't bring myself to throw it out because I wanted to make it work.  (Read: not throw away the food that was saved so it wouldn't be thrown away.)  Eventually, I decided to warm it up one morning, drizzle syrup over it, and serve it to Zeal, who doesn't ask many questions.  He liked it!  Praise got to like it too, and in a few days, it was gone!  The next container of pb&j pieces was made into this baked cinnamon-raisin french toast.

This time, it was eaten the first try by all children, though Delight did say she didn't like the peanut butter parts very much.  Success!

P.S. I like watching the Everyday Food recipe videos.  They do a good job making cooking look easy.  I made their pork tenderloin with roasted vegetables--fabulous and easy!

Summer 2012 Music Video

Better late than never!
Here's how we spend our spare time.  Actually this video has been done for over a year but we just didn't have a good ending, so notice the Soderborg's running backwards into a porta pot for the smash-bang finale.  Also, look for the Francis' in this one.
